Over the past 17 months, The Educated Birth founder Cheyenne has had the honor of partnering with the Boston Medical Center Midwifery team as the Creative Strategy + Illustration Partner for the newly launched Bump and Beyond website — a multilingual perinatal education platform designed to support families through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and newborn care.
The platform offers educational content in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Haitian Creole, helping make essential perinatal information more accessible to a wider range of families navigating care.
At The Educated Birth, we believe that how information is shared matters just as much as the information itself.
Pregnancy and postpartum are often overwhelming seasons filled with medical terminology, major decisions, emotional transitions, and rapidly changing information. In those moments, visual communication can play a critical role in helping people:
As part of this collaboration, we developed 50+ custom illustrations designed specifically for the Bump and Beyond platform. The illustrations were intentionally created to reflect:

Across the perinatal health landscape, there are still major gaps in communication, accessibility, and representation — particularly for communities that have historically been underserved within healthcare systems.
Many educational resources still rely heavily on overly clinical visuals, generic stock photography, or imagery that does not reflect the lived experiences of the people receiving care.
This project gave us the opportunity to approach visual education differently.
From labor positioning and cesarean recovery, to postpartum warning signs and feeding education, every illustration was developed with the goal of making information feel approachable, clear, culturally conscious, and grounded in dignity.
One of the most meaningful aspects of this collaboration was that patients themselves were involved in reviewing and providing feedback on the platform throughout development. That kind of collaborative process helps ensure educational tools are not only medically accurate, but also truly usable and responsive to the communities they’re intended to serve.
In addition to creating educational tools through our own platform, The Educated Birth also partners with hospitals, organizations, nonprofits, and perinatal brands to develop:
Our work focuses on bridging the gap between complex healthcare information and real-world understanding through thoughtful visual communication.
The Bump and Beyond website was developed by the Boston Medical Center Midwifery team to provide accessible, multilingual support for families moving through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and newborn care.
The platform includes educational resources related to prenatal care, labor and delivery, postpartum recovery, newborn care, feeding support, warning signs, and informed decision-making.
We’re deeply grateful to have contributed to a project so rooted in patient-centered care, accessibility, and thoughtful communication.
This collaboration reflects something we care deeply about at The Educated Birth: building educational systems that help people feel more informed, more represented, and more supported during some of the most important moments of their lives.
We’re proud of what Bump and Beyond offers to Boston Medical Center families — and excited about the growing role thoughtful visual communication can play in shaping a more equitable future for perinatal health education.
