At The Educated Birth, our mission is rooted in advocating for health equity and amplifying the voices and stories that too often go unheard. That’s why we are honored to announce our participation in the Health is a Human Right: Achieving Health Equity exhibition at the David J. Sencer CDC Museum in Atlanta, GA.
This powerful exhibit, presented in collaboration with the CDC’s Office of Health Equity, brings together contributions from over 100 individuals, organizations, and government agencies across the U.S. It highlights innovative, community-driven solutions to some of the most pressing health challenges of our time.
We are incredibly proud that our work, in collaboration with OBGYN Dr. Karen A. Scott of Birthing Cultural Rigor, LLC, is featured as part of this landmark event.
The section titled “Using the Lived Experience to Address Obstetric Racism” highlights Dr. Scott’s groundbreaking work, including the SACKRED Birth framework and the PREM-OB Scale®. These tools center the voices of Black birthing individuals to address systemic obstetric racism and promote equitable, person-centered care.
Through our collaboration, The Educated Birth’s illustrations play a role in amplifying these narratives, ensuring they are seen, understood, and valued. Visual storytelling is a powerful way to create connection and inspire change, and we are grateful to contribute to this meaningful work.
Obstetric racism and inequities in maternal health outcomes are pressing public health issues, particularly for Black and Indigenous birthing individuals. This exhibit is a critical step in reshaping how we view these challenges—not just as data points but as lived realities that demand systemic transformation.
The Health is a Human Right: Achieving Health Equity exhibit opens on November 25, 2024, and runs through August 1, 2025.
📍 Location: David J. Sencer CDC Museum, Atlanta, GA
🌍 Online Access: A global virtual experience will also be available, making the exhibit accessible to audiences worldwide.

This exhibition reminds us that achieving health equity requires centering the lived experiences of those most affected by disparities. It asks us to challenge the systems that perpetuate inequities and to imagine a future where every individual has access to respectful, dignified care.
At The Educated Birth, we are committed to advancing these conversations in the spaces we serve—through birth work, storytelling, and education. We hope this exhibit inspires others to take action, whether as parents, professionals, or advocates.
